Position: Director
Reports to: Board of Directors
Hours: 30 hours per week, evening hours and some weekends
Rate: Based on experience $13- $15 an hour
Start date: Immediately

Organization:
Established in 2001, the Chicago Youth Boxing Club (CYBC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the social, educational and physical well being of Chicago’s inner-city youth. CYBC encourages positive youth development through boxing. CYBC aims to instill the value of good sportsmanship, team unity, and selfrespect.  CYBC has a unique program focused on offering positive alternatives for Chicago’s inner city youth and is not interested in manufacturing athletes.

Position:
The director is a new position for CYBC and will work with the Board of Directors to provide leadership and direction for the gym and its programs. Responsibilities include oversight of CYBC’s administrative and programmatic management as well as supervision of CYBC’s part-time and volunteer staff and other duties as assigned. The position requires flexible hours including some business hours, some evening hours, and/or weekend hours.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree is preferred or equivalent training and experience
  • Supervision and management experience is required
  • Experience in fiscal management, budget management and grant writing is required
  • Project management skills: excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to prioritize, able to multi-task, work independently and in a team
  • Intermediate computer skills - able to use Microsoft Office and QuickBooks is highly preferred
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of constituents: youth, community members, board members
  • Availability for night and weekend hours
  • Familiarity with the North and South Lawndale Community is a plus
  • Demonstrated dedication to working with youth and the nonprofit community
  • Experience working with youth a plus / Knowledge of youth development desired
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred
